How to recognize printed text on PDF scans
Get plain text from a PDF whose pages have been scanned or photographed.
What to prepare
You can add: PDF. The allowed size and number of files are indicated on the tool page.
Procedure
Add files
Add a readable PDF with scans. Select up to 20 pages per run; For a large document, process the required ranges separately.
Select settings
Specify up to 20 pages and the text language - Russian, English or both. For resolution, you can start with 150 dpi. If letters are difficult to recognize, try increasing the value; Processing may take longer.
Click the button
Read the terms of processing and confirm your consent. Click “Recognize PDF scan” and wait until it’s ready. If an error appears, read the message and check the file, text, or settings.
Save and check
Click "Download" on the finished result. The result will be TXT with recognized text and page marks. Be sure to check last names, numbers, dates and similar symbols against the original image.
Tool Options
Some fields appear after selecting a mode. The default settings are shown here; They are subject to change on the website.
- Pages (eg 1–3, 8)
Write page numbers from the beginning of the file, for example 1–3, 8. A blank field usually means all pages.
- Language
In what language is the text that needs to be recognized written? For mixed text, you can select Russian and English together.
- Resolution, dpi
The clarity of the page image in dots per inch. A larger value produces more fine detail, but requires more memory.
Good to know
Clear printed text is best recognized. Blurred letters and handwritten notes may be difficult to read. The text file does not save fonts and table layouts.

Where is the processing performed?
The file or text is sent to the server for processing. Before starting, read the terms and conditions on the tool page and agree to it. Download the finished result before the expiration date indicated on the page.
What to do if the result is not suitable?
Take the original file or text and try other settings in the steps above. Compare the new result with the previous one. The original files on your device remain unchanged.
