How to validate JSON and make it readable

Check the JSON record - a text data format - and arrange the lines and indents.

Format JSON: what to add → processing → what happens (JSON).

What to prepare

Open the tool using the button above and paste the text.

Procedure

  1. Prepare your text

Insert JSON only, for example {"name":"Anna"}. Remove explanations and code block marks like ``` at the beginning and end.

  2. Select settings

Choose beautiful formatting for reading or compact writing without unnecessary spaces. For a readable version, set the number of spaces in the indentation.

  3. Click the button

Click "Format JSON" and wait until it's ready. If an error appears, read the message and check the file, text, or settings.

  4. Save and check

Check the structure and values in the result. If there is an error, correct the source JSON according to the message, then run again. Download formatted.json if you need the file.
