How to prepare line breaks for Windows or another system
Change the way you write line breaks if the program requires LF or CRLF.
What to prepare
Open the tool using the button above and paste the text.
Procedure
Prepare your text
Paste the text and find out what hyphens the recipient program needs: usually LF or CRLF.
Select settings
Select the appropriate option: LF is often used on Linux and macOS, CRLF is often used on Windows. If necessary, include hyphenation at the very end of the text.
Click the button
Click “Change line breaks” and wait until it’s ready. If an error appears, read the message and check the file, text, or settings.
Save and check
Download TXT and check the hyphenation type in an editor that can show them. In a regular field on a website, LF and CRLF may look the same.
Tool Options
Some fields appear after selecting a mode. The default settings are shown here; They are subject to change on the website.
- Transfers
How to write hyphens: LF is often needed for Linux and macOS, CRLF is often needed for Windows. Select according to the recipient's requirements.
- Line feed at end
Leave one line break at the very end. If you turn it off, there will be no wraps at the end.
Example
LF and end carry selected. Here \r\n shows CRLF carry and \n shows LF; These characters are not visible in regular text.
Was
a\r\n b
It became
a\n b\n
Good to know
The transfers at the end are reduced to the selected option: there will be one left or there will be none, depending on the checkbox. When a long line itself wraps on the screen, it does not wrap within the file.
